My bro in law dropped his 17-35 f2.8 and broke the rear element.
When he got it back from Nikon in NY, the auto focus motor didn't work.

He never dealt with it so now he has a $1200 manual focus wide zoom.

Hate to knock a repair shop but you'd think they'd have caught that.

As for repairing electronics: I'm pretty chugged with myself. I repaired my kids Wii. New laser module in the optical drive. Maybe the scanner can be repaired at home. Of course, there is reams of documentation on repairing Wiis. Not so much for Nikon scanners.

Good luck. Sorry you had such a rotten time with it.

Nikon was once a good company. They do not stand behind their products anymore. Ship the scanner to Japan, ask them to fix it there!
