Rewound film backwards, eek!

I feel like such a ditz -- finished the roll of film in my Pentax ME tonight so I rewound the film, but did so in the middle of a distracting conversation and failed to realize I was winding the rewind crank in the direction opposite of the arrow. The film made a squeaky/pained noise during the whole process, but it did all end up back in the cassette and came out of the camera just fine.

Did I kill the film? Is it still worth developing? ):

I think it should be alright. The fact that it went all the way back into the cassette meaning it didn't split.
