Kodak Farbwelt???

Hi all,

browsing the online catalogue of an online photographic retailer here in Spain, I came across a film called Kodak Farbwelt 400. Google translate tells me that this is "Colour World" in German.

I've found an online Kodak document that states (thanks again to Google):

http://www.kodak.com/DE/plugins/acrobat/de/consumer/produkte/filmwelt/produk.../E-7023_DE.pdf

KODAK ULTRA MAX 400 Film is a highly sensitive,
user-friendly film for carefree snapshots.
400 Film gives you the flexibility to
to make consistently better pictures in more situations:
less under-exposed images with better picture quality
in dim light, with better results
Zoom lenses, greater flash range, better
"Freezing" of fast-moving and less
blurry photos.
Even with magnification even at magnifications of ULTRA delivers 400
Film excellent sharpness and fine grain - for
crisp, clear images. The optimized color
Precision technology consistently delivers bright,
brilliant colors with accurate skin tones for
natural looking images of people.
The ULTRA MAX 400 Film is designed for development in
FLEXICOLOR KODAK Chemicals for Process C-41
designed. When printing it is about KODAK GOLD movies
compatible.

Is this just Kodak Gold for the German market?

Some years ago, this was a much discussed subject. It seems the Kodak Gold 400 (and the 100/200) you would buy in the US, Europe, and Asia was not exactly the same. Kodak probably made slight modifications in respect to regional preferences (minor tweeks in the color balance). And yes, the Kodak Farbwelt 100/200/400 was basically the same as the Gold 100/200/400, and produced for the german market.

You may also have a look at
Kodak Farbwelt 100 ??? - Photo.net Film and Processing Forum
where they discussed that subject. There you will also find multiple links to more discussions elsewhere.

Thanks!! I'm surprised if my local place can get this, maybe they can't but still have it listed. It's cheap, so I might give it a go.
