I'm a little confused. If this new scanner has true a optical resolution equal to or greater than the 9000ED (as their design goal apparently), why would you need a dedicated 135 format scanner? The smaller the negative the greater the true optical resolution needs to be for better results and I don't see how you're going to get that from a $280 scanner.
Aristophenes is confused, he thought this was 120 only, it's not it does 35 as well

As for me, $1500 is the cut off price. My dedicated 35mm scanner and flatbed do a great job scanning 35mm and medium format, respectively. As an amateur, I just need scanners that result in great looking a4's and a3's. Would love to have a dedicated medium format, but not if it's sky high expensive.

Anyone have any new info on this? I've tried contacting the company about price and ETA but no response so far.

Heard back from them today.

Our Optic Film 120 won't be available for purchase in the U.S until Sep 20th or around that time , and I believe it will be $2000.00.

Price seems reasonable and would be curious when it is finally available for reliable review.

It's available at B&H for pre-order now. $1999 with a shipping date of September 30. Really looking forward to a review somewhere.

I too am looking forward to a review, particularly as a head-to-head against a Nikon 9000 ED. I know the Nikon is no longer available, but it was the standard for enthusiast-level medium format scanners.

When you consider that Coolscan 9000s, and for that matter Minolta Dimage Multi Pros, are still selling for $2-3K then the price doesn't seem that bad. I'm hopeful that this unit can at least equal those 10+ year old scanners.

Thread started on 1/2/2012. Apparently it takes a long time for momentum to build...
