The film around the sprocket holes should be transparent like your left side examples, and with a sharp delineation of the gaps between exposures.
If not, light must have got on the film apart from the exposure in camera.

Hi,

I don't use the Patterson tanks so I can't speak specifically to that, but it looks to me also like a light leak. Agitation is not so critical (to the second), that isn't the issue. (Off topic but the Hewes reels are absolutely amazing and a joy to use, actually makes it pleasant).

So it was a light leek in my change bag. Thanks everyone have not had a problem since.
