My primary scanner is the Epson V700 and I love it. But recently I was in the U.S. for six months and decided to get another scanner because I couldn't stand the thought of not enjoying B&W photography the whole time. I did a bit of research and settled on the V600. I got it new for less than $200 including shipping and was very pleased with the results. For general negative scanning its hard to tell the difference from the much more expensive V700. I use Vuescan software to drive it and although the interface is clunky to say it kindly, the results were very nice. I do final editing in LR I find the improved spot removal function in LR5 very handy as it allows dragging. I shoot almost exclusively in medium format.
