Flatbed proof sheets?

When I had a darkroom I always made a contact print proof sheet of my roll of negatives.
I found this made it very easy to eliminate the stinkers.

Is it safe to assume that placed in a sleeve page I could easily do the same on a flatbed photo scanner?
Has anyone tried this? If so, will I need a sheet of glass to flatten them, and will Newton Rings be a dealbreaker?

It just doesn't quite fit an 8X10 area using a V700.

According to the PrintFile website their pages that hold seven strips of five 35mm frames will print on an 8" x 10" contact sheet.
These should fit the Epson scanners without any cutoff.

Thanks for posting those. Scanning an entire roll in just one minute! Resolution should be good enough for my purposes.

It should if you cut it down to 5 frame strips but the 35mm strip holders are for 6 frames.

I meant the scanner's film strip holders are all for 6 frames or less.

I have used the V700s film strip holder for doing proof sheets for 35mm. It works well. I have never tried putting the PrintFile 5x7 sleeves directly on the scanner glass, but will give it a try at some time (not home at present).

Update

I found that the few flatbed scanners with transparency unit large enough to cover 8x10" are in the $500 plus price range.
I finally managed to locate one in my price range, a used Epson 1680 for $70 on eBay.
It's a professional graphic arts model sold for years and still supported, including drivers for modern OS's.

Though good in its day resolution and Dmax of this model are a little below top modern flatbeds.
However it should suffice for the purpose intended, i.e. scanning album pages of my 35mm rolls.
