An incredible as on CL.

I can remember when this would have front page news! Now, they're pratically begging someone to come take it away.

~~~Enlarger and film developing stuff ~~~
Sad.
It could be sad if we would have to return to this. Really sad. Other way, is progress.
I have given away two very nice complete working enlargers with accessories for free on Craigslist.
With each I was surprised by how fussy potential takers were. One even asked me to deliver it!
An inflated sense of personal entitlement seems to be dishearteningly ubiquitous these days, Chris.*
[*Notice: This is not a politically narrowminded, self-serving argument against basic fairness, the 'golden rule', and taking seriously the meaning of "equal protection under the law". May I please add this so as not to be misinterpreted. I know, good luck with that... -- not an Ayn Rand fan.]
When I said, "Sad," I guess I meant sad in the sense of older, once quite valuable and usable gear being relegated to the "useless" heap. If I were a younger person, perhaps this would have never crossed my mind, but being 68 years old, with quickly deteriorating joints and a memory that is becoming increasingly lapse, I suppose I feel somewhat like this enlarger and it's supporting cast.
No, I would NEVER want to revert back to the days of hypo, red lights and cracked hands! Quite the contrary.... I have embraced the digital world with very welcomed arms, but.... just sayin'......
Looking behind in live can make someone sad or happy, or even both together. I'm not very far from your age, I'm 56 (thanks God I'm to old to be taken soldier in the war it seems to come). What makes me sad (very) are the changes that I see coming.
So, be happy that you're 68.
Yes, Jimmy, it does indeed look like there is a war to come. And, yes, I am VERY happy to be 68! It certainly beats the alternative. I enjoy every day, especially when I have my camera in my hand. I wish the digital age had came about much sooner, though. What a wonderful invention for all concerned.
Recently (as Chris knows) I was the recipient of a complete darkroom setup from an older friend. Now please understand, though I enjoy shooting film, I have no desire to develop and print my own work. Though the equipment is like new, better than pedestrian and emotionally tied to a friend - it is just in MY way now instead of in HIS way. I relate to the CL advertiser!
My elder daughter, though, has come to the (eventual) rescue. Though she lives in a 1-bedroom in UWS New York, she has 'claimed' the outfit for her eventual use, asking that I carefully store and preserve it.
(I guess we did something right!!)
My daughter has likewise requested that I store and preserve my enlarger and other wet darkroom stuff.
