Nice Mr Bias is featured on the great sunny16 podcast. He tells a great inside story on how Ferrania is struggling to come back to us filmshooters with E6 film:

Hopefully in producing this run they are not the Pheidippides of film companies...

At this rate I expect Kodak will introduce their new slide film first.
If so I that doesn't bode well for Ferrania.

I'm glad to see Ferrania's new BW film, but IMO it's just a stopgap;
"Look, we managed to get a product to market."

True for 100 ISO E6, as they have to compete with Fuji and Kodak. (200 ISO with Rollei)

However they were also going to introduce various other speeds of E6 as well as some Tungsten versions:

64D, 100D, 200D, 400D, 640T, 800/3200T

In everything other than 100D & 200D ISO, they will have the E6 market all to themselves.

The 400D will be a huge seller, as there is a big gap in fast E6 since Fuji deleted Provia 400x.

I'm setting my hopes on the upraising of Ferrania's E-6 production. P30 will be the wheelbarrow for that.

TomB, I hope P30 can be a nice alternative for b&w and results turn out well for you. Please show us some pics in this or the b&w film thread.

I was happy to see Rollei (Maco) getting E-6 Vario Chrome on the market but it appears a bit of a bummer. Low contrast, muted 70ies colors and quick burning of the highlights was one of the verdicts I read on the net. I don't mind that if I know such things in front. And E-6 is never forgiving for highlights if you meter for the shadows, low dynamic range is normal for sure.
Rollei once brought old (Agfa) CR200 E-6 stock on the market which resulted in many rolls for me with orange to almost red pics when shot on EI200. We certainly are in need of a real Fuji E-6 competitor. Although I don't think anyone can make the same sort of magical film like Fuji's Provia 400X. So high hopes on Kodak when they will reintroduce Ektachrome.

It would be great to see some photos. From what I saw on the web, it seemed P30 didn't handle highlights very well...

I have shot two rolls of P30. I am trying to figure out the best way to process it, roll the dice on my ilfotec HC, or buy a developer they have guidance on.

Are they planning to produce enough to sell any to non-subscribers too?
I have not seen this film advertised for sale anywhere.

They did a short run for sale through their Web site with more promised for the future, but I believe that current output is to satisfy backers orders only at this point.

I just took my first roll to my local film lab for processing/scanning, will see Thursday afternoon how it looks.

Here are some samples from my first roll of Ferrania P30, everything is "vanilla". Lab processing using an Illford developer, medium res lab scans (6.7MB TIF files) and shot at the box speed of 80 ISO using my Super A.

I did some slight tweaking (lighting/contrast) in Photoshop and converted them to JPEG's. I used yellow/dark yellow and orange filters on the three lenses. (A20/2.8, FA31/1.8 & K50/1.2)

#1 A20/2.8 Yellow filter:

#2 FA31/1.8 Dark Yellow filter:

#3 K50/1.2 Orange filter:

#4 FA31/1.8 Dark Yellow filter:

#5 K50/1.2 Orange filter:

#6 FA31/1.8 Dark Yellow filter:
