Pentax P3n
Kodak portra is what I used to use. 160 speed gives you better IQ but you might want to go with the 400 for faster shutter speeds:

amazon.com : Kodak 35mm Professional Portra Color Film (ISO 160) 6031959 : Photographic Film : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&
https://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Portra-Professional-Exposures-Negative/dp/B004F...ntaxforums-20&

Fuji Velvia is another popular choice:

amazon.com : Fujifilm 16326042 Fujichrome 35mm Velvia 100 Color Slide Film ISO 100 - 5 Rolls of 36 Exposures (Green/White/Purple) : Photographic Film : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

I'm a Kodak Ektar 100 fan personally.

I think of film like food. Sometimes I feel like a cheap pizza slice. Sometimes I feel like a 3 course prix fixe meal with a nice glass of red wine. What I pick depends on mood and situation. And it's always fun to experiment!

Different film gives you different color emulsion. I found a blog that documents some of those popular films.

film review | Curating Cuteness

But to myself I used to be strictly RVP, RDPIII and Tri-X. But recent years I shift to Neopan Arcos, Portra, 400h and fujicolor industrial. (The grain is larger, but I love the color and contrast. it has neo-post-modern feeling to it. unlike rest of films are just retro feels)

Here is my taste of Fujicolor Industrial 400 film

Re: Film

Velvia ... unless you are shooting portraits, in which case Portra 800 ... unless you want B&W, in which case Tri-X ... unless you want chromorgenic B&W, in which case Ilford XP2 .

Ilford Pan F and FP4 are also excellent B&W films.

Just my 2 cents.

Note your camera has no manual ISO setting, so will default to 100 ISO for non DX coded film. Stick to the bigger film companies like Kodak/Fuji where all their film is DX coded.

Phil.

PS Looks like Ilford is also DX coded.

Smart recommendation Phil! It's true.. P3n reads DX codes only. you can not overwrite it. You can do is to offset the EV compensation to do the trick. If DX isn't available I believed it's preset to ISO100.

Unfortunately the P3n does not feature exposure compensation, so you are out of luck with non DX coded film unless it's rated at 100 ISO.

Oh! you are right! I haven't touched my P3n since high school photography class. what we did was to refill the film into DX rated ISO400 canister. I totally forgot about that
