Silly Lloyds bulk loader question

How do I know when I've come to the end? I mean, I know it will be obvious when there's no more film left, but is it attached to the core? Does it make a distinctive sound when it finally comes off? Or is the only thing I know when I've rolled the last frame inside my cassette and open it up to find it falls straight out and I have to take it into the darkbag to fish a couple of inches out for the leader?

The only way you know when youʻve run out of film is that when you go to cut the film, thereʻs nothing left.

If my film cassette feels extra light, I assume thereʻs less than 12 shots and may opt to just throw it away....or be frugal, go back to the change bag, and as you said, fish a couple of inches out for the leader.

I suppose you could use a scale and weigh what 12, 24, and 36 exposures is and then use that as an estimate of how much film is in the cassette.

You will know. I can't remember any time running to the end and having the film run into the cassette. It has been awhile since I have finished a big roll, but I believe that the center spool on most have the tail inserted into a slot. There would be resistance at the end.
