Where to Buy: T-Max 400 brick?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to drop this question or whatever. Looking to buy a brick of T-Max 400, 35mm, preferably 36 exposure rolls but I'm soft on that requirement. I'm in the USA and not sure what's the most cost effective path. Don't need it this instant and waiting a couple days to save on shipping is fine with me.

Thanks!

I checked Freestyle and B&H Photo and both only seem to sell the 135 version as a single roll.

Adorama use to sell a brick of it, but I haven’t looked in a couple of months.

Adorama isn't currently listing multi-roll deals on T-Max. They are doing packs of Tri-X that end up costing more per roll than buying individually (shipping may bring prices in-line with each other). I see this a lot online where it's cheaper to buy per-roll than in a package of many rolls together.

You can try Adorama & B&H, sometimes they have bricks of film but it varies what & when they have them.
If anything you can check ebay & see if you can find anything in your price range.

how many rolls are in a brick?

I buy most of my film at B&H or Freestyle. B&H is cheap enough ($5.49 for 36exp) and has a low threshold for free shipping. (Freestyle is $.10 cheaper, but doesn't give free shipping.) Bulk loading might save a bit--that's much cheaper at Freestyle than B&H-- $80.99 vs $129.95

If you buy in muliples of 10 or 20 Freestyle, B&H and others will usually sell them in "bricks" - the assumption is you want them to be from the same emulsion batch. The film usually comes in "bricks" of the same batch from the manufacturer and the stores will break them open for smaller sales which is why you may get rolls from different batches when you buy less. Call them to make sure.

I guess I shouldn't have used the term "brick" as I don't care about batch to batch differences. I really just want about 10 rolls of TMax 400 and wanted to find a good deal.

Sounds like I need to just watch for some good pricing and buy a couple at a time until I find something.

I recently got 10 rolls of 36 tmax for $37 on fleabay, and have seen before other kinds of film in 10, 50 or 100 count. They tend to sell fast and it doesn't seem to be a steady supply, it makes me think it's to sell overstock.

I should say it's the "pro" films that come packaged in bricks of 10 or 20 (shrink wrap). The consumer films probably just come in a box.

i'm sure all retailers receive TMax as a brick or half-brick, but then break them out into single rolls. Selling bricks are more common with color film for pros to have consistent emulsions and color balance...but not necessarily for price.

THE most cost effective solution is to buy an 100' roll, a Lloyd's bulk loader, and empty plastic film cassettes. That will get you about 16 rolls of 36 exposures and will cost nearly half the price from buying factory loaded film.

That's my plan, once I get more comfortable handling unexposed film. I just ordered a change bag and will look into loaders in the near future.

You should check out shopgoodwill.com for bulk loaders, they pop up there from time to time at times usually under $10, and the highest I've seen has been ~$15. I recently won one on there for $5 bucks, $17 with shipping.

Which is more than just buying 10 individual rolls from B&H ($5.09 for a 24 exposure roll, so $50.90 with free shipping.)
