Is Fujifilm Pro 400H discontinued?

Hello,

I have been thinking about trying this film (I usually don't shoot color negatives, but never tried that particular one) and a store where I usually obtain my rolls said they have around 40-50 of this film left and there won't be any more, because Fujifilm stopped producing it.

Does anyone have any official info on the matter?

I don’t have any info, I’m afraid, but you should definitely try it. It’s so good... I find this to be on the expensive side, but it’s a great emulsion. It’s not that easy to find, where I come from, but I still see some available online.

As far as "discontinueing" films, the only one I know of is Acros, which they released Acros II not that long afterward. They have stopped selling mulipacks for certain films (more info here: Fujifilm Killing Off More Films in 2018, and Things Look Grim).

I haven't heard/read anything from any of the film guys/film photo sites that are usually "in the know" about such stuff, so until anything "official" comes out consider him "blowing smoke" to get some sales.

On the European (fujifilm.eu) and global (fujifilm.com) sites it is still listed.

This might be related:

Maybe the dealer misunderstood or maybe the projections of others were right and this was a precursor to discontinuation. However, I found no references to any discontinuation of the single roll packaging.

I did see that b&h or Adorama (I forget which) has a fall sale on fujifilm 400h which could be stock clearing or just a sale.

Maco Direct (EU) and Freestyle (US) have stock in both 35mm and 120.

Maybe supply could have been interrupted due to Covid but I haven't read any info on it being discontinued (yet?).

Considering the number of times Fuji promotes this film on their Instagram feed, it would be hard to believe they are discontinuing it. There's a post highlighting Pro 400h about every two days. Take a look... @fujifilm_profilm

And I agree, it's a wonderful film. Probably my favourite colour neg film. Beautiful glow to the images.

Yes. Here's the official notice from Fujifilm: https://asset.fujifilm.com/master/americas/files/2021-01/4ec4fab236259fdc37b...nue_Notice.pdf

Sad indeed.

If you want to buy some then the sooner the better as stocks will run out soon (especially 135 format) and whatever's left will triple in price, which is what typically happens when a good film becomes very scarce.

Well poop. When I wrote that it wasn’t announced in November that appears to have been publicly true but the dealer appears to have had a good source of info.

This blows! My favourite film After trying multiple rolls of all the Kodak slow and medium speed films, I had finally settled on Pro 400h as my only colour neg film. Very unhappy camper here.

This makes me wonder if Fuji will sit on this for a year, then "reintroduce" a new and improved version at twice the price. They did this with their Acros B&W film, which is why I refuse to buy it.

A photographer I watch on youube (The Photo Dept), said his video about 400H that thats what he thinks is going to happen, because in their (Fuji's) statement about it they said it was hard for them to source the 4th layer they use specifically for 400H, so chances are they decided to just discontinue the film until they can find a new material then reintroduce it as a "400H II" (similiar to what they did with Acros).

Heres the video where he talks about it:

I think this is unlikely purely for the reason that Acros II is made by Ilford, not Fujifilm, which is probably why it's extra expensive - so that both firms can make a profit from it. I still have several rolls of original Acros, I still have the three-pack I bought in Japan and that was three and a half years ago. I haven't shot any for a few years for various reasons.
