I haven't actually got my hands on the lens yet, it's still on its way to sunny NZ :-) I did think it might share some genetics with the 35 Macro so I had a quick look at the teardown you did on that one. Doesn't look TOO scary so we shall have to see. I'm thinking it's likely to be grit (maybe sand or something) in the helical so I'm hopeful. I have pulled down a couple of lenses before just for fun that were totally and utterly dead and not worth fixing so I'm ready to have a look at this one now :-) | |

Hey mate, I've received the lens now and discovered two things - firstly, it has to be torn down from the back, so all the mount electronics etc need to be removed and secondly the 'information relay fork' is mashed. The fork has three of five pins screwed so I need to try and find a replacement......any ideas on how I go about that ? I've emailed a couple of 'Ricoh Imaging Service and Repair' agents here in NZ and in Australia so I'm waiting to see if any parts are available. Cheers. | |

Yes, I've just read the one about the thin wire and it looks great but I'm not much of a one for fabrication I'm afraid !! Here's the offending item - obviously the 'stiff' focusing was due to the pins being bent back underneath themselves and ultimately breaking up.....  ---------- Post added 10-28-15 at 04:44 PM ---------- AGH - forget it mate - I just moved the focusing assembly on my desk and the electrical contact strip fell into three pieces !! Looks like what ever was going on the focus issue maybe caused excessive movement of the tiny little ribbon cable and it has disintegrated !!! Looks like it's MF only for me with this lens :-( | |
