What are common issues that pop up with the Pentax A3000, and are there any solutions?

I have one and enjoyed using it; it very well might be entry-level but it was/is a useful entry-level even more so because it was not reliant on DX coding. It has been acting up as of late. Though I would like to pick the wisdom of this forum for a solution . . . upon reflection I decided to go a different route.

As I mentioned it is a useful entry-level so it should have some sort of troubleshooting guide. The first step in any troubleshooting is knowledge, usually by looking at other experiences and finding the closest match to your issue. Then find out a solution even if it is "Yep, you're screwed."

For instance, let's start a worst case scenario . . . what would be the indicators that the shutter is failed/failing?
