K-5 for sports-photography

Look at these two consecutive shots from earlier in the session (the 2nd I've left uncropped):

I've only done this a few times, since it is the most boring part in athletics (to me). The only interesting image is the one where there is still contact with discuss or swing or ball, or just after it when it left. For that you can focus on the border off the ring, since the man is there when he trows his thing. Just calculate your dept off field and put in the 7 fps.

Great job, I love the last two shots, great timing there and good facial expressions. I would agree that if you need more fps to switch to AF-S, and prefocus.

I went to a Red Bull sponsored event tonight at the local university called the Red Bull Rail Jam.
Competitors were judged on tricks they could do on and around the rails that had been set up on campus for the event.

All shot wiht a K-5 & Tamron 28-75 2.8 and Sigma ef-510 Super flash

My daughter's team had a pretty good season but went down in the semi-finals.

We had the benefit of an exchange student from Spain--la nina tiene Juego!

Fortunately out home gym is well lit. The light gets strange on the road but sometimes makes for interesting effects--this was a classic old gym.

My problem is I shoot too much or more accurately process too much: it gets to be quite a chore sometimes and takes over my photo time. The girls and parents seem to appreciate it, though.

Oh I use the K-5 & Sigma 50-150/2.8, btw

Well I stopt with taking more sportsimages! Just haven't discovered how to take less sportsimages at the moment.

Dan, Some nice shots there! For discus (but also high jump) I mainly use single of manual focus and prefocus on where the action is. I get much higher FPS this way.

Big powder day at Monarch Mountain, Co yesterday. The whole family played hooky. Fun!
The WR setup was the right one for the day. It was snowing an inch/hour (or more) all day.

wow nice. How hard is it to take Bouldering pictures? In the Netherlands there will be the European championship bouldering this year.
