Nice shots RonHendriks1966, the B/W works well with them.

I agree, and that reminds me that I wanted to express admiration for the first shot (also BW) in the sequence you posted on 8 Sept.
Thanks. Yes I'm doing a little more B/W these days. I made some B/W prints 10 days ago or so and I realy liked them.

Im getting back in to Equestrian photography and awaiting the arrival of my K5 II and after a decent lens for sports. Budget is quite low so what would people recommend? Guessing the 50-200 might not quite cut it?

A few b/w conversions to simulate Tri-X (noise) Plus a halftime entertainment break for the football crowd. Love those wigs. The young man on the field got up and continued play.

Muay Thai

It is the only exception in my women's sports only policy to go to muay thai boksing gala's. Not to oftyen, but I do enjoy the adrenaline and the fun we have with the roundmisses that are also in the back off the ring where I'm standing

This afternoon I went to the first match in the new fieldhockey competition. It was between last years champion HC Den Bosch en one of the lower teams MOP. Half way true I thought that I could make a small serie of one of the important players forr both the club and our national team that just won Olympic Gold in Londen.
These shots again show that you're a fine photographer, but they also show a quality lens. Which one did you use - the 70-200 or the DA*300 (I can't seem to find the EXIF data anywhere)?

Soccer is sometimes extreme

Last weekend my sonīs team had a game under various conditions.

We started off with sunshine

Then it got a little bit cloudy.

Guess whatīs coming ? Yes, a rainstorm
I just managed to get a cover over my gear ( the Sigma isnīt very water resistant ) but kept on shooting ( and got soaking wet ).

And more rain to come ...

But then after 10 minutes the sun came out again and we won 12:3

The last week I tried to shoot another team. The game startet just befor dawn so I had to go up with ISO.
This is what a picture with ISO 10.000 looks like. Not that bad after all I guess.

I only took K-5 Silver with DA*300 and my K-01 with FA31mm with me. This serie with the 300mm lens. Some dugout shots with de K-01.

K5 with 50-200 WR lens. Not fast sports, but was pleased with how well and quickly the camera gained and tracked focus.

Most shots in TV mode around 1/500th using AUTO ISO which was ranging between 200 & 800.

Some Field Hockey Photos

As promised (threatened?), here are some more field hockey photos. My daughter's team is really coming together very nicely and has a good shot at the championship this year. As usual, in my enthusiasm, I'm taking & processing way too many photos and have gotten behind on posting them to the team gallery. Now that I've gotten some decent shots of most of the team members, I'll be more selective.

We Are the Champions!

Now the series is finally over and our guys have won the Finnish U17 Championship in football! It was actually decided even before our 3 last games by other teams, who lost their chances by tieing their mutual game.

Third but last game, a visit to a town 150 km up north. Our goalies cleared 2 penalty shots, one each. Here's the first one... (I was at the other end of the pitch and couldn't make it close enough in time)

... and here's the second. Result 0-3 win. The home team ended up 4th in the series.

The second but last game against a team who had been a difficult opponent for us. Placed near the bottom of the charts they had managed a tie and a win against us in the first two games. Now, finally and on the home (artificial) turf, our boys won 5-2 taking a 10 point lead before the last game. Our guests ended up 6th in the series because of their excellent results towards the end of the season.

Quite appropriately my son scored the winning 3-1 goal by this header in a corner kick situation.
By this time the team suffered of many injuries, and several of our players were chosen for the final matches of our U19 team, who were fighting for the championship in their own series. We only had one sub for this game.

The final match was against the silver medalists in our neighbouring town. The game had no real meaning because all the medalists had already been decided, but of course we wanted to win. With only 1 un-injured sub on the bench and several of our guys playing the U19 match at the same time, it was a tall order.

Well, we lost 3-2. But it didn't really matter. From the beginning of the year the result was 23 wins, 4 ties and 3 defeats and the championship by a 7-point margin.

This turned out something else than just sports pictures with K-5. You've been victimized by a never ending report about a junior football series from Northern Europe and as far as I've noticed, nobody has complained about it Thank you all for that
Now it's over and I try to spare you from future reports in this extent. I will promote myself to the U19 series because that's where my son will play next season, and I'll probably shoot some of the Elite series of Finland, too. Some of our guys have already made their debut there as well.

I'll end this by a K-7 shot (18-55 WR kit lens):

The post game victory yell in the locker room. This time it's for the championship.
