Funny, cause that'll be like comparing the top of the line Subaru to a top of the line Mercedes. The best Subaru out there is a heck of a machine, but it would get smoked by a top model Mercedes.

I'd leave out the D300S from the comparison - that's simply in a different league.

The K-5 and the EOS 7D is an interesting match. I've used a borrowed 7D before - and its a marvellous machine. I would say its a different class of camera when launched last year, but the current discounted 7D pricing would definitely invite comparisons.....

I won't be surprised if its a pretty even match - Pentax seems to have aimed the K-5 specs straight at EOS 7D territory.

On the 60D, I had a chat with Canon users in my circle, and most people are distinctly underwhelmed by it..... The 40D was an exciting machine when first launched, the 50D less so, and the 60D is just a stale excuse for a new product....

My original fear was Pentax would similarly produce just a weak update of the K-7, but NO...the K-5 is very interesting new machine...just fits inside the same K-7 shell, which is no bad thing, as the K-7's ergonomics are great.

The 50D or 7D is probably a better choice in the Canon line.

K-5 vs. 60D isn't even same category. 60D is $500 less just body. 7D is much more in the same category. 7D would be a better choice in my book, which is why I just got one with a lens for $1600.
