Price of K5 in Canada.

I just came back from the Henry's Camera show in Toronto.

Pentax K-5: 1299.00 + HST Special Show Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Also there is more discounts with Henrys Advantage Card. I have to figure out.

A DPR member who works at Dunne and Rundle in Vancouver has posted he received an email from Pentax Canada saying there will be a "big" price drop - no word on how much.

That card gives you another 5% off. So net price is 1234.99 at the Show - amazing deal!

I just got my K-5 body at Henry's. $1299.99.

I was going to get an extra battery but at $99.99 I shall wait a while and see how many exposures the battery battery gives.

What a camera! It is going to take a good deal of learning.
I did manage to get the strap on correctly after only two tries.

Got my K-5 at Gastown Photo in Vancouver a few days ago for $1199CAD. That was the best price I could find in North America...

considering the K-5 to be already 8 months old, a drop in sales and just about new cameras are about to come out of the market anytime soon, it is pretty logical that such price drop should be given. personally, it is still pretty high from my point of view and would seem to be better fitted at $1,000 tops. although the popularity and good rating of the camera has more probably kept it higher than expected even up til now. too bad the sensor stain and flash issue seems to have affected what could had made the camera more attractive.

Just passing some info along...

Carmans Fotosource honoured The Camera Store price of $1296 for me yesterday. Speak to Paul at the Stratford location.

Henrys is at $1399 (after last weeks $1299 sale price) and won't price match to out of province vendors.

Aden is still $1449, Vistek $1399, Downtown Camera $1349. Not sure of the pricematch policies at those locations.

Prodigital2000, on ebay, has them for $1,199 USD. They must have just dropped the price because I'm sure they were $1,299 a day or so ago.

Our local store claims they honor any Canadian retail price.

Thats what the website says, but the store I called (Ancaster) said they don't pricematch out of province.

Damn! Prodigital was $1299 yesterday, and the Gastown website wasn't advertising any K-5 in stock as of Monday. Guess I should have waited a day

I'd contact(or call them) Henry's head office in Ontario and inquire.
Sounds to me like there's some misinformation going around.

Anyways, if they did start to refuse price matching based on provincial prices then it wouldn't take long for them to loose their appeal as many other companies do.

BTW. the best price match deal we were able to come-up with, was with a company from Quebec called Lauzo which had the K-5's on special and free shipping. Which meant that Henry's would price match there price and... wave the shipping charges
