Once that last one is gone, i wonder how long until they get more in stock? I am $300 short in my camera fund. I'm wondering if I should go for it anyway or wait and see how long it takes to get second shipment in?

I came really close to buying that last one (despite already having a pre-order for the body+ WR kit lens for the same price) just so that I could have it this weekend

But I just checked and my pre-order just got scheduled to ship (and therefore can't be canceled) so it looks like I'll have to be patient for a couple extra days. I guess it would have been silly to (basically) spend and extra $150 just to have it a couple days early, but curiosity was starting to get the better of me.

Looks like our preorder with the kit lens will be October 17th. I'll wait the few days since I'll be getting the kit lens for free on each order (I preordered when amazon had the kit and the body at the same price), and promptly be selling our K-7s with said kit lens.

I see there's still one more K-5 body on Amazon this morning.

From my previous observations, I've noticed that amazon says there's only a few left in stock but then when those are all bought up, they stick a few more on... Unless they truly run out of stock, but in this kind of a deal my guess would be that they're just employing some marketing techniques.

We'll see...

Same here. I preordered the K5 when it was the same price with the 18-55WR. Figured it was as close to a "discount" on the K5 as I was going to get for a while

I know you feel your K10d is a little long in the tooth but do you REALLY want one of the First off of the assembly line?

Well, the dollar dropped from 79€cts to 71€cts since the week before Photokina when Nikon announced their $1199 price. $1599 MSRP today is only worth $1437 in value of the week before Photokina. I still stand by my statement but didn't anticipate the 10%+ devaluation of the US currency.

BTW, I wonder how Nikon deals with that situation ...
