K-5 and K-R with manual lenses, any improvements?

No, AV mode always shoots wide open no matter where you set the aperture ring. You need to use M mode and check whether changing a stop on the aperture ring, and then pressing the green button, leads to a recommendation that is one stop different. AV mode can only be used if a lens is in A mode, and I never had exposure difficulties in A mode.

Ok, so catch in focus is faster. What I am really desperate to know is how accurate is trap focusing with the K5 in low light using manual glass. I am positively desperate to know this! I use a K20d. It's very hit and miss.

Someone? Anyone?

Actually Av can be used with M42 lenses and then JonPBs test can be carried out but only with M42:

With K-R I doubt nothing has changed since erlier bodies and if you use AV with M42 lenses you get exposure errors if the contacts on the mount are not shorted correctly. I have to dial in +1.5-2EV with my K200D with certain M42 lenses to get exposure right.

It'd be nice if someone could tell me it isn't so

Using manual lenses (M42, Nikkor, M, etc) can you set AF points for catch-in focus?

It would be awesome if you can.
