honestly, it looks more like the FA35, it has the same pop. the only difference that I see is some very slight bokeh improvement.

Slight? FA35 makes nuts.

Then you have to wait for some one to upload the files for you somewhere. I don't have any place to upload such big files.
I can host them on my private server. I have a 10Mbit/s fibre line and was hosting files with some success when K-7 came. Send me an e-mail to enc-y833yh49rtmaqrrwqzzcedq5ph-enc@heime.org for instructions.

My site is of course free for any commercials

Dear friend, I need RAW files to understand what can I get from K-5 + DA35/2.4.
Pentax Photo Utility is very weak converter for me with results close to in-camera JPEG.
That's why I ask RAW.
no, you need a K-5 + DA35/2.4 to understand what you can get from a K-5 + DA35/2.4

I dont get what you mean by that, but anyway, I will still say slight because the difference is not day and night nor makes anyone think that it is a departure from the FA35's rendering, unless the DA35/2.4 shows some real magic of it's own that differentiates is well enough from the FA35.

for someone who doesn't own an FA35, the DA35/2.4 is impressive.
for someone who does, not likely.

looks like a good performer, The FA31mm f/1.8 still has it's place for those who want better build quality and the extra half stop of speed, and the better OOF transitions.

Anybody else think Pentax should build a similar lens at say 20 or 24 mm? Pretty please? It can even be tiny, f/2.4 and plastic if you want

Second that. Something inexpensive in that range would sell like iPods. Not superb like the DA20, but great.

The FA35 does not have coatings to reduce ghosting common to digital sensors, The DA35 does. Makes a difference.

I find that claim hard to believe. the FA35 is one of the lenses that I use on a regular basis, and I haven't had any problems with ghosting as compared with other lenses. if such coating does not exist in the FA35, it would had been so obvious with the images. on some threads regarding the DA35/2.4, it was mentioned by some that both lenses share the same coating on the rear elements. besides, it doesn't mean because it wasn't advertised or failed to mention that some lenses have ghostless coating, doesn't mean they don't have it.

ghostless coating is almost 2 decades old. so anything with such mention of it nowadays is more likely about marketing the item rather than new technology.

Hi Frank,

I just joined the Pentax community today. For some reason, I can't see/view your images on my computer (iMac, snow leopard 10.6). All I see are a whole bunch of "Upgrade to Pro today....Photobucket." Why am I able to see some images, but not others?
Thanks.

Sorry about that. My photobucket account is a free one, which has a limited monthly bandwidth. Now I guess it's over the limit (in 2 days only!)

I was ready to place an order this week for the coveted 35mm limited, but this really has me re-thinking. I guess it's just a question if the metal body and macro are worth the extra $300. Could it be as sharp as the limited? It looks like the new lens may have better bokeh. I would love to see them compared head to head.
