K5 users with the Sigma 50-500mm & Shutter Sound

Does any of your new K5 owners have the Sigma 50-500 lens (older version). If you do have you let them play together to see how the AF works? I'm wondering if there is much of a difference with the Sigma between the K20D and the K5 outdoors with sports or wildlife.

Also I had heard that the K5 shutter is supposed to be quieter. Is this true?

Thanks
Jim

Can't comment about the Sigma 50-500 as I don't own one.

I can confirm that the K5 is quieter than the K7 shutter (which I believe was quieter than the K20D).

Must be near silent, then... First pic I took with my K7, I thought "Damn, this thing is broken, mirror has not moved or something!"...

The K7 is very quiet too. Although without even listening specifically for it, I did notice the K5 was even quieter. I then closed my eyes (just to make sure I wasn't biased) and had each camera handed to me and fired off the shutter to see if I could really tell the differences. It also feels "softer" in terms of what you feel when you hold the camera and take a shot. I had my wife listen as well from about 5-6 feet away and asked her which was louder and it was obvious to her to that the K5 was quieter.

That said, the difference between the K5 and K7 is far less than the difference between either of them and the Kx, which feels downright "rough" in comparison (for the record I have no issue with the Kx shutter on it's own, it's just in comparison it's a bit less refined).

My K-5 should be with me tomorrow. I have the older Bigma and will give them both a whirl and let you know how they work.
I think the good high ISO performance of the K-5 will allow me a higher shutter speed which is very useful at 500mm.

Earlier this year I tried the mentioned Bigma (pre DG version) with K-7 and it was already a vast improvement. It was unusable with K10D, but pretty good with the K-7. Now with K-5 I expect even less hunting and smoother operation.
