I wanted to add that each USER mode can be given a name as well.

Very useful feature.
I would set one up for action shots with Drive Mode, Tv setting, one for Low-Light High-ISO shooting, another for Manual Lenses..

I also find the user modes very useful, and I am already using 3 of them. I find it quite complicated to set them up, iT would be great if you could work with these setting in you PC instead, then you could just as well have 10.
That will also solve the problem of synching settings between bodies. I was hoping the K-5 also would have the simple IR to be able to synch all types of settings, including time.

Now that's a great idea.

and it would be nice if they were to continue along this path by adding more user modes for the K-7 through firmware.
Yeah, it would be nice if Pentax releases an encompassing firmware update like they did back when the *ist DS was superseded by the DS2. hint hint Pentax

No recording of metering

Only started with two user modes, and naming them really helps.

However, I'm finding a bit of a pain that (say) the last exposure settings in a user mode are not recorded. Going from a landscape shot to catch a bird in flight by selecting that user mode quickly seems a good idea except that I would love to have the camera also know that I'd like to start at 1/500 and not the 1/20 I was left in from the landscape shot.

I bet when I finally think of 5 I'll want to reorder them.

seems a good function. I have set my K-7 single user-mode for pre-setting moviemode, so having an extra option and giving them a name is very good.
