Shutter count of K-5

In all previous new Pentax cameras I had, shutter count of the first picture was between 200 and 300.

Today I checked the first picture of my K-5 with exiftool ― shutter count was 1.

Doeas that mean that Pentax does not test assembled cameras in the factory anymore? Or they reset shutter count before packing camera?

What was shutter count of the first picture of your K-5?

It means their Final Production QC test rig now has a function to Reset the Shutter Count to Zero after the Camera gets its PASS status.

They probably reworked that after all the threads with people asking why their new dSLR had a shutter count in the hundreds

I was told it does take up to hundreds of shutter actuations to take each dSLR through its test and calibration routine before it can PASS and leave the factory. Now they just don't let you know...

Well, now they should worry about countless "Something wrong with my K-5: shutter count is 0" threads

I couldn't find this by searching.

My first K-5 picture had shutter count 1 too. I'm happier about this just from an accounting point of view. I don't really care how many actuations there were in the factory.
