Update went effortlessly. Quantity of frames in high speed increase.

Do we know what other changes were in here?

Just updated as well. I'm not a big fan of the way the orange light continues to blink even after the screen says complete. To me the blinking light makes it seem that some process is still running. I let it go for a few extra minutes to make sure it was done. The blinking never stopped, so I turned it off. Everything was fine.

Updated my K-5, and did some quick testing:

Hi speed drive mode, FPS priority, DNG

ISO 80: 28 frames
ISO 100: 26 frames
ISO 400: 24 frames
ISO 3200: 22 frames

Definitely a large improvement. However, it did stutter a few times at 100 and 3200. It kept going after that, though.

The orange light stopped blinking as soon as the photos were finished processing and up in playback mode. Might just be a one time bug with yours JamieP.

Also, I can confirm that a fix for flash communication issues has not been included. Flash behavior for my K-5 and AF360FGZ is still the same as before (major overexposure in bounce flash, fine in direct). However, I'm pretty sure the Pentax engineers have only recently been made aware of and started to work on this problem, so I'll take their word for it when they say they'll be fixing it soon (next firmware update).

I think you guys are referring to different things. The orange light JamieP is referring to is after the firmware is done updating. I agree, and even double checked the readme.txt file to make sure I could turn it off.

Does buffer need to clear for playback?

Does the buffer need to clear completely before you can enter playback mode?

Also, I assume that once the buffer has partially cleared, you can continue shooting until it is full again. Is that correct?

Yes, I just tried it and you can start firing off shots when the buffer is partially cleared. Takes about 35 seconds to fully clear on mine, and after about 10-12 seconds I could take another 6-7 shots (which makes sense).

Ah oops, sorry. You're right. Didn't read closely enough.

Yes, if you hit the playback button, it will display the hourglass symbol until all photos are done processing.

Thanks. How about being able to review while the buffer is clearing?

12 bit?

Did the firmware update make it possible to switch between 14 bit and 12?

Seems like you can't review until towards the end of the buffer dump, so not right away.

I don't see anything obvious that toggles between the two.
