I always liked ePhotoZine ... (K-5 Review is up)

I always like ePhotoZine ... even before, and factoring into, deciding the K10D was right for me in 2007. Now, on the K-5:

Definitely didn't find too much negative to say about it. Of course, this site is based in Europe, where the K5 and D7000 are priced almost the same.

Still, there is no doubt that it is a great camera with a lot of potential.

But not to like the K-5 is like... not to like photography at all. I mean can there be sane photographer not liking the K-5?

...what does your Canon Girl think of the K-5?

On a different note, something came to mind in the ePhotoZine review. They definitely could have & should have made use of the built-in level when setting-up the tripod for the "Pentax K-5 Outdoor ISO speed test" shots.

ephotozine always give a fair review irrespective of the camera brand. Their pros and cons list is also based on how the camera performed not on a brand name tag.

It's a bad thing that all those reviewers do not test flash performance. K-5 has serious problems with P-TTL.

I say "it's a bad thing" because Pentax definitely doesn't listen to their customer complainds. Maybe some thrashing in reviews would shake up them and they eventually would fix that damn P-TTL?

@edvinas: What the hell are you talking about? Pentax listened to all the complaints about the K-7 and fixed almost all of them in the K-5. And apparently they are working on a firmware fix for the flash issue right now. Your rant is unwarranted.

She envies the K-5. There is nothing as such in Canon camp and if there was, it would be much more expensive. But on the other hand the FA*24/2 is not quite up to the EF24/1.4L performance. So there are stll some reasons to get Canon.

I guess. I'm not a brand bigot when it comes to lenses. If I were to want a wide fast prime, I'd be happy to own the Sigma 24/1.8 instead. If I were to visit a place where I'd be sure to see the Milkyway again like I did when in was in the high ground of Tanzania, that lens would be a pre-condition this time. (but I'll profess ignorance about knowing whether the Sigma 24/1.8 is even in the same league as the Canon 24/1.4L other than the latter's fractions of a stop faster)

So, with reviews like that, I'm thinking the price isn't going to be declining very quickly.

When the reviewer claims the camera is the equal of others twice the price, we better hope that Pentax and retailers don't get any funny ideas!

looks like they stuffed up the white balance on the colour charts.

Nice to see such a positive review.
