Focus Screen

I did a search but didn't find an answer: does anyone which other Pentax body focus screens will fit in the K5? I'm guessing the K7 would, but I'd like to know for sure.

Pentax Canada lists the same screens as the K7 used
so any screen out there for a K7 should work
A lot of people here here buy the jinfinance ones (they are a great price
the Katzeye's are the most expensive, but also the brightest and allow full customization of grid-lines adding britescreen etc
in between you have companies like the one below where i just ordered one, i went this route as they had a good selection of reworked screens to choose from (from ones not really any different than the jinfinance ones though pricier) to ones that are much better screens but not customizable like Katzeye and i haven't heard anything bad about them. There really should be a sticky on this topic

Eddie...I hope that is the case but then I wonder why Katz would not sell me a K-7 screen for my K-5. Time will tell.

Well Pentax Canada has been known to mess up on occasion i just looked on their web site for the info and it's the same 3 models listed for the k7
does the manual not list them? usually they do

page 345 of the manual mf,ml,mi and me 60
the same screens as the k7 so a K7 screen will fit
though i don't know how accurate the manuals are they list the diopter correction lens m as an accessory but they don't sell it on the pentax store (I'd buy one in a minute, my eyes are now passing the built in correction and i need to use my left eye rather than my right and hate it)

This is a guess on my part, but maybe Katz hasn't gotten their hands on a K-5 yet to verify the screen is the same size as the K-7.

I ordered a k3 from focusingscreen.com for my k7 today (it may actually get here before the camera) K3 screen with rule of thirds and shipping just under a hundred USD

I took the Katz-Eye out of my K7 and installed it into my K5 the same day I got the K5. In my case, it even used the same shim. I popped the K5 screen into the K7 since I already had it sitting on the bench rather than digging out the original screen.
No problems.

Wanted to add that I, too, installed the KatzEye from my K7 into the K5 as well and it works great as expected.

I communicated with Mark Davis at Pentax in Golden and here is his response:

"Yes, the PENTAX K-7 and the PENTAX K-5 use the same focusing screens; the AF Frame Matte MF-60, the AF Divided Matte ML-60, the AF Scale Matte MI-60 and the Plain Matte ME-60."

Thanks guys. I will give Rachel Katz a shout and ask if she is ready to bless the K-5 screens. If not, I get another $28 clone intead.

Oh yeah, EMERGO +1. You now officially have a reputation.
