Lens fine adjustment suggestion to Pentax?
I'm not sure it could be implemented in a future firmware or maybe the next K? camera, but as I was fine tuning my lenses on my K5 (comparing live view shots VS viewfinder shots) I was thinking...
Could pentax use the Live view focus (which in my limited experience with the K5 is dead on most of the time with proper lighting and contrast) to adjust the viewfinder focus sensor for a lens? (Sort of the same way you make custom white balance profiles)
For example:
1 - You enter the "Fine Adjust via Live View" menu function
2 - It turns on live view
3 - You take a photo of your target and the camera takes 2 photos... 1 using live view focus, another with the viewfinder focus sensor.
4 - Camera allows you to review the live view photo
5 - If you approve of the focus, it then calculates the difference in focus position between the 2 and assigns + or - setting automatically to the viewfinder focus sensor and saves it for that lens.
It's all software based using the available hardware in the K5, and I am guessing it would make custom lens adjustments a lot easier and more precise than trial and error or entering debug mode.
Any thoughts on this?
