before we see a Magic Lantern book for the K5? I'm not knocking the manufacturer's manual, but I find the ML books far easier to read and comprehend.

Well, mine was more of an educated guess based on how long it took for the K-7 and K20D books to come out after the camera release. Plus, they both came out on a Tuesday, so that narrowed it down a bit too

I don't normally buy stuff like this but the K5 is a notch up in complexity from my K10D so I'd probably buy a copy - as long as it comes out in the next few months ...

I'll order one the moment it appears, based on their guides to the K10D and K-7.

The Pentax sales volume must be right on the edge of breakeven, though, as shown by the lack of a guide to the popular K-X.

I see that Yvon Bouque has a downloadable guide for the K-X (with K-5 and K-r) under way but I'm one of those looking for a paper manual I can through into my bag. Yvon's works well on the Nook, a device I'm not ready to purchase and one that will not replace a paper manual that can become unsupported or flakey, abused, wet, lost, etc. without much damage to the budget.

I've found Magic Lantern guides to be very good for a deeper understanding of what the camera can do, even for an experienced photographer.

The K-5 has many new features, even compared to the K-7.
I'll probably get one when its published, but as usual the one for Pentax gear comes out rather late
