Updated Sensor Stain Report

If it is in the filter glass, then some Nikon D7000's might have it too. Any confirmed reports from that side of the aisle?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a diagram of how the sensor is constructed, including the layer of glass where the 'beads' appear?

I am having a difficult time visualising the problem.

Thank you! Now I understand a little better.

It is a very complex construction. I find it amazing that any light gets through to the sensor at all given all the layers of filters and glass.

Good question. I have posed this or similar questions on other threads but have seen no replies. Are D7000 owners experiencing the same problem or is this a Pentax K-5 owners-only thing?

I always said that it's Sony's responsibilty if it is (under) the cover glass. And Pentax' if it is above the cover glass or in the AA filter assembly. Still correct.

My post cited earlier contained the diagram, i.e., my cut photograph.

I attach it here again. It is zoomed 4x in the vertical direction. The defect is where the 3 green lines are situated.

Yes, a reader asked the question, but the magazine got a response from a spokesperson from the factory.
