With my Canon I could choose B&W mode and after that the pictures would be B&W on the rear LCD, even if I shot in RAW.
Has anyone figured out if this can be done with the K5? I've been through the menu's a few times but can't find that option.

It works on K-7 choose the filter B&W and then I use that in User mode.

Thanks SPB, found it! I was looking in the menu, but the BW filter was under a quick button. Putting it under a user is also a good suggestion!

In a sea of colour on the internet I am excited to find this filter and am experimenting with it on my K-7, but lusting after the K-5. I have just had some photos printed in Roadbookmagazine.ch they printed my article, I did not know the whole magazine was B&W except for adverts, but mightily pleased with the results and to be printed in such a lovely magazine.

I have the same question but can't find the menu setting. I have a K5 with the latest firmware update. Would love to be able to do this.

To answer my own question.....

press 'right' on the up-down-left-right navigation buttons on the back of the K5 and choose 'Monochrome' in the menu (like below)
