Can't display control panel.

When I press the info button the status screen is displayed, when I press it again a blank screen is displayed, when I press it again the status screen is displayed again. I am unable to display the control panel, have I gone wrong somewhere?
I should add that I only got the camera today.

Manual. Manual. Manual.

But have you hit the menu button yet!?

You really, REALLY have to read your manual. Everything is laid out there pretty clearly.

Take the camera out of green mode. Most settings in Green Mode are not adjustable so no need for the control panel.

Actually Ira, it isn't always that clear but it's there if you no where to look. The OP's problem for instance is not addressed in the control panel section but in the green mode section.

Thanks for that, the mode dial was set on green mode, I changed that and now I can display the control panel. I have read, and am continuing to refer to the manual. I just didn't realise that the green mode, which I wont be using, would have that effect.
