Argh Pentax! This is really rubbing it in!

My K5d has been at Pentax Canada's service dept for 2 weeks because of the sensor contamination problem and I haven't heard a peep from them... and now to really rub salt in the wound this came on the brown truck this morning...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I wanna cry!

I played with it a few minutes at work with my K20d and it's quite nice, but you know it's just not the same!!! I can't wait to have my K5d back to really put it thru it's paces.

Come on Pentax hurry up, I want my K5d back!

Pat

Congrats, I got my K5 last Friday and a DA*300 yesterday. I really like the big prime. Waiting on a teleconverter for it now.

Wow...that was nice of them....Pentax only gave me a free pen and cleaning cloth with my wifes K-r replacement. (kidding....I'm presuming you had ordered the 60-250 or did they get shipping mixed up?)

SMC ... I ordered the 60-250 a few weeks ago from prodigital, but they had no stock. It didn't bother me too much to wait as I do not have my K5d anyways... but now well I want my darn K5d back!!!!

Mokey ... I'm just anxious to get my K5d back! I'll play around with my K20d, but it's just not the same

GaryH ... I have the Tamron 1.4x TC, I can't wait to try it with this lens. The DA*300 looks like a real gem... maybe I'll be able to afford it in a few years

Imagine what it would be like if you didn't have the K20D.
You'd be holding the 60-250 up, looking through the rear element at your subject and pretend it's focusing fast and taking some awesome pictures with it...

O wow that is nice. Send it to me, I still have a K-5 (no stains). But I'm also waiting for my K-5 to come back from the stain-replace. I didn't hold on to my K-7, but sold it and bought two K-5's.

What made you decide to go for the 60-250 and not the 300? I'm sitting on this question what to buy. I already have the 50-135.

Ash ... I can see myself doing that! Running around going "click!" "click!"

RonHendriks1966 Well, both the 60-250 and 300 are f4 and to me the convenience of a zoom far outweighed the little bit of extra reach and slight image quality of the 300.

Ex Finn. Thanks! I really can't wait to put it to the test when my K5d comes back from Pentax Canada one of these days!

Hey I know how you feel... I have a 31mm ltd coming start of next week... but my K5's not due for 10days and I have no other pentax mount cameras in the house :'( though I'm tempted to get a pentax-micro four thirds adapter for my gf1

My K5 arrived at Pentax Canada the day after yours. I gave them a call this morning to follow up.
It was received into the service Dept Jan 17. (10 days after they received it from CanPost). It is "in queue". But, yes, I "should hear from the Service Dept. within a week with a resolution to the issue."
On the bright side - I now have a reference number, and acknowledgement that they do at least have it.

Oh yeah - I have a new Tammy 17-50 arriving today from Prodigital. Not exactly comparable to a 60-250, but looking forward to checking it out on the K-5 when I get it back.

Gary,
which converter you're going to buy?

Worrisome developments.

I am interested in purchasing the K5 but there seem to be a few problems with it.

Now I learn that there is a queue for correcting those problems.

I have decided to wait a few months and see what develops.

Meanwhile my K100d will continue serving me faithfully.

Once Pentax works the bugs out (and they will), the K-5 will be the best APS-C DSLR on the market. Come to think of it - it already is.

I love my Tammy 17-50, but sadly it front focuses too much to use with the K5d. It is usable with -10 focus adjust on the K20d. I'll be sending it to Tamron for repair soon (gotta love 6yr warranties!)

Oh good news! I just received an email answer from Pentax Canada! The CSR confirmed they have my camera and are waiting for replacement stock from Japan which is expected next week.
