K-5 and PK_Tether, it works!

Works fine on K-5, FW 1.02.10, Windows Vista Ultimate SP2. Programme saves jpeg and/or DNG files. I use a second monitor so I can view the 700kb preview image full size for evaluation. I will definitely donate to the author when the beta testing is finished.

Haven't tried PK_Remote yet.

PK_Tether site is https://sites.google.com/a/pentax.org.pl/tomaszkos/en/pk_tether

Hey, this is great! Thanks for the heads up.

Just be sure to hit 'disconnect' before you remove the mini USB lead, otherwise the camera locks up in Pc-S mode and mild panic sets in before one realises that just removing the battery from the camera will reset the sync socket.

Didnt earlyer Pentax model have this kind of software bundled with camera? I am quite sure that at least my ist* D had it. Maybe K10 and K20 too.

I was hoping an possibility to use computer as an viewfinder, but this software functionalities were just same as this earlyer Pentax version.

It's .NET 3.5 ...

It's .NET 3.5, so depending on what libraries and controls are being utilized, it may run under recent Mono builds under Linux, MacOS X and others. But I have a feeling it's using some Win32-only library/control, and it is tied to a specific Windows releases as a result.

Fedora 15 is possibly coming with the Mono 4.0 pre-release, so I might try building the software and seeing what is required for support. If it's just common USB controls, and possibly some generic video overlay, it might just work with a few changes. I mean, if it works on all Windows versions, then it's not using any NT6-only (Vista/7-only) video overlay. So Mono 4 likely has the equivalent SDL/V4L (Simple DirectMedia Layer / Video4Linux) calls to support such.

Yup. And since the cameras apparently can support tethering, I suspect there is more going on in the background at Pentax than just refusal to write a tethering program.

Anyone tried it with Windows 7 64-bit (or any 64-bit), or with FW 1.03?

It worked with Windows 7 64-bit, the camera was prone to crash so that the battery had to be removed though (FW 1.02).

Yep, I have win 7 64 bit and FW1.03. It works, but as stated above, it is prone to locking up the camera. It's only causes a slight panic attack

I think I might want to wait for him to release a final version to see if that bug gets worked out. Any chance of there being a version for ipad? Or do those just not have enough computing power? That would be sweet in the field.
