Very useful application - should be even better now! It's nice to have it work on both my K200D and my K-5. I'll give the update a try later.

Apart from this not being version 4.5 but version 0.45...

Has anyone successfully used it with a K-5?
When I connect my K-5, be it in PTP or MSC mode, Windows XP and 7 sees the camera, even shows the pics on it (even in PTP mode), but when I then launch pktether, it does not see the camera. I've read the hints section and made sure that there's a memory card installed, even made sure to have a jpg img on it.

*update*

Oh, never mind. I just had to wait a long time, probably due to 100s of existing PEF files on the card. And it only works in MSC mode, not in PTP mode.

As long as we are at the version number it is actually Version 0.4.5 (whatever that means)

Oops, right. 0.45 would mean version zero fortyfive, while 0.4.5 means zero four five. 0.45 would be a much later version than 0.4, and 0.4.5 means that it's a fifth (actually forth) bug-fix release for release 0.4. That nomenclature is mainly used on Macs, where the version numbering goes like this:
major . minor . bugfix
A change in Major means big new features.
A change in Minor means new or changes in features
A change in Bugfix means same features, just less bugs

Oh, and a 0 point something version usually means: "not ready at all yet". The first "normal" should always be 1.0.

Give

pkTriggerCord

a try source is included so you may be able to get it working on the mac.

if your want it working in MSwindows you'll need libxml2-2.dll

ftp://ftp.zlatkovic.com/libxml/libxml2-2.7.8.win32.zip

download extract libxml2.dll to libxml2-2.dll and place in same folder as pktriggercord executable.

Cheers to people making tethering possible for Pentax!
It amazes me that Pentax doesn't care about offering tethering.. Especially since they did a few years back.
Lots of photography schools seem to work with tethering in studio classes. I did.
I could definitely see Pentax being great for educational purposes thanks to their terrific handling, the cameras being both easy and logical to work with.
Also, wouldn't it be quite an opportunity to make way for free advertising? I mean.. Monkey see - monkey do. I picked up my first Pentax based on my experience with Pentax when I studied photography, both analog and digital.

Just some thoughts.

Is PK Tether supposed to show a live view on the computer screen? My screen is blank until I take a picture, then that picture appear on screen. Would be useful with a live view. I'm using a K-r

Any insights?
