Only thing is that they don't operate on Jewish holidays, which is annoying when you have no patience.

I've been surprisingly strong and am going to try and hold out for $1000. There was a returned, like new K-5 on Amazon for $1148 and I didn't bite.

I haven't bought a K-5 yet, simply because I've been unable to persuade myself I want one (for reasons apart from all the Forum brouhaha). But I'll have to confess this thread caught my eye - maybe I'll "learn" to want one, especially if the price drops further.

B+H came through with the discounted price and issued a credit back on my card for $31.92. They're cool that way.

Okay, so K5 arrived last night. Serial # is 393xxxx. Build-date is 1/25/11. So that should be indicative of current B&H stock. Well within the "safe" range. Serial # sticker on outside of box did not have that "circle with a slash" mark indicating that the unit had been manually checked for stain, so I guess it was considered "safe" and didn't warrant a check. Camera did not appear to have ever been unpacked before. Firmware was 1.01. Image counter reset to zero. Checked the sensor out at both f/16 and f/22, looks clean as a whistle. Also, and this may piss some people off, I'm not having any trouble focusing in low tungsten light. Granted, I'm using a fast lens (DA*55) and supposedly the problem exists more with slower lenses, but luckily I don't use slow lenses in low light, or ever, really, for that matter. (I do have a couple of f/4's, if that is slow, but they are both used outdoors) So now that the tedium is taken care of, it's time for the fun!

$1265 at ebay (Shueido seller) (from Taiwan). Shipping is $69, but for me (to Kazakhstan) it was $59. Serial number begins from 380. Hope it will be without stains...

I asked them about warranty and you have to send it back to them in Taiwan for them to warranty it for you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that serial # in the "danger range"? Even if it is, of course, it's not certain to have stains, but still.

Edit: Yep, I checked the data base here on this site and that appears to be a really early production unit. Hope you're a generally lucky guy.

Hope:
1. I am lucky guy,
2. They checked camera before sale (because the problem is already known),
3. My K10D will work properly for a time...

Trigger pulled from BH today. Pretty confident the stain issue is resolved and ff is going to be taken care of.

Seeing we're working in all different currencies, it's priced at 95,000yen on Amazon Japan.
Comes to roughly 1150USD. Or just over 700 pounds.

I'm hoping to buy the 35mm Limited first, so hopefully the K-5 price will be even lower in a few months time.
