[langtitle=sv]K5 Custom input focal length[/langtitle]

Hi is there away to custom-size the input focal length on The K5? Im using the Voitlaender 58 mm F 1,4 Nokton ass my main lens. If not is there a way to make it in to future firmware?

Just put in the closest value.
Pentax won't be supporting third party lenses. The offbrand lens manufacturer will have to start chipping their lenses to talk to the camera body.

Yes, select closest value but not higher than the lens' actual focal length. In your case I presume 55mm would be it. Choosing a higher value than the real one will cause the SR system to overcompensate and ADD blur rather than help.

Okay thanks for your input I Talked to a Pentax rep and sad that its possible to make it into a future firmware Why the 35-40-50-55-65 Why not "50-51-52-53-54-55-56-57-58-59-60-61-62-63-64-65"type like
I think it should be an easy thing to do

Other than it would be a nightmare for a user who was changing lenses from a wide to a telephoto?
You are asking to take a useful feature and ruin it for no good reason.

The difference between 58mm (the marking on your lens) and 55mm (what you can enter) is probably no greater than the difference, on various manual lenses, between how the lens is marked and what the actual, real focal length is. Not to mention variations as the lens is focused in and out.

So I wouldn't worry about it.

It would be better if it was fine tuned like this, but let the front e-dial adjust by +-10, and the back e-dial adjust by +-1. I'd prefer to set my Nokton at 58mm if no other reason than having 58mm displayed in the EXIF to differentiate in cataloging from true 55mm lenses.

Okay Thanks a lot all for all your "Input value" on this I stick whit the 55 and wait for some alternative fine-tuning or 58mm or 60mm value in a future firmware.
Is it buy the way some of you that have experience of the Russian lens-
Mir 20mm f3.5 I'm waiting for a "new" built in -95 I just bought it and waiting for it to arrive. Maybe ther is russian lens expert on the forum

With any luck, Pentax will look at this with the same opinion that I have, which is users wishing for unnecessary complication of use for no good reason or advantage.
And ask yourself, why should Pentax offer any support of any kind to lenses that they don't make?

I shoot often with the 58Nokton, and have not really found this to be a problem. SR works just fine at the 55 setting. The EXIF is of course off, but if I am shooting with the Nokton, I am generally aware of it.
Your idea would be fine, as long as it didn't cause other problems or create a more difficult operation to set the value.
