Too much noise?? Perhaps you are confusing the K5 with some other camera. I only got mine two days ago, but I can definitely see how much LESS noise it has compared to all other cameras I've ever used.

Not having owned the camera myself I may need correcting but I did have a look over the firmware updates after GregK8 made mention of it and I think you found your solutions, and you may possibly need to get a faster SD, SDHC or SDXC card to achieve max fps.

as for you complaint about the lack of 24fps, I ask:
Did you not read the spec sheet before you bought it??

High noise; According to DPreview it is "One of the best APS-C DSLRs in terms of high ISO image quality" So I think you either need to shoot raw and run noise reduction software over it, or start looking to cough up some significant amounts of $$ and get yourself a FF or medium format gear instead.

I am not sure what more you could expect without paying SIGNIFICANTLY more money!

Listening to your story I had the impression you are a little blind and somewhat deaf.

Good news - you are not mute.
Another good news - the admin here is very patient )

I would suggest a dedicated video camera for video.
BAZINGA! Buying a DSLR for video is fine and dandy... but then your research probably would have landed you a Nikon D7000 as video is its STRONG point. Or a Canon 5D Mark II... the K-5 is for the photographer, not videographer. Video modes and options seem to be more of a throw in just to say they have video than a full featured suite on the camera.. which is fine with me. But if your unhappy with it for other reasons thats understandable. The frame buffer can take around 20 seconds to clear after burst shooting (with a nice fast SD card). There are far more positives when shooting with the K-5 than negatives. I'm sure selling or returning it won't be a problem.

I don't know why you guys feel the K-5 is not strong in video.
Take a look at the following video clips (in Mandarin) and you'll know why the K-5 rocks... take a look at the swimming pool shot with the DA* 55mm f/1.4 SDM... WR folks...
The shoot was sponsored by the Pentax agent for Malaysia.

Making of:

Actual music video

Bottomline is don't blame the equipment if your technique and knowledge isn't up to scratch. The K-5's video capability is definitely good enough for commercial work.

Great videos I really enjoyed them. Thanks. Great advert for the camera. It certainly got wet in the pool scene.

Always enjoy a good troll post in the morning

I think it's quite clear the only thing wrong with this guy's K-5 would be the moron behind his K-5 (though I doubt he actually owns one)

I do too, particularly when he talks about noise "compared to his K10." K10 is terrible for noise above iso 800. Poster is just on second post.
