B&H K-5 $1299 instant mark-down doesn't seem to be working

I followed the PF main page link to the B&H $1299 special on the K-5. After adding the item to my shopping cart it is still listed at $1399.

Hmmm... I even followed the "Instant $100 savings" link on the product page with no success. I took the checkout process all the way to the end right up to actually confirming the order with no change in price. For now I'm giving them a few hours to get this worked out.

The $1299 deal lasted less than 24 hours, then the price went back up. The explanation is a new shipment of cameras came in from Pentax at a higher price.

I had one in my cart at $1299 and when I left for a few minutes to transfer funds, the price went back up!

I submitted a price match request email with link to Amazon last week, they sent me a quote matching the price at $1299. Then I added the Epson R1900 printer to my order for $489.

What's even cooler about this?

There is/was a $400 rebate on the R1900 printer when buying a pentax/nikon/canon camera valued at more than $500. I recieved the printer and camera this morning, immediately posted the printer on Ebay, and sold it in less than an hour for $440. After fees and shipping, this comes out to about $375 net.

$1299 k-5 + $489 printer = $1789
$400 rebate plus $374 ebay sale = -$774
Total cost for my New K-5 = $1015 !!!

These bundled deals with rebates are often overlooked, but as you demonstrated, you can get a great deal if you know where to look. A whole lot better than clipping dollar coupons in the weekend newspaper!

Maybe we need a place on this forum where we can find deals like this - perhaps under Price Watch?

I got wind of the price drop to $1299 on Amazon almost instantly... I am a big user of *************** and fatwallet.... and had an instant email notification set up on SD that would notify me of any postings in the site forums involving "pentax".... (quick tip for you guys in the market). People post all the time when big ticket cameras go on sale. I guess thats how i was able to get to take advantage of the price match with B&H before they cut others off. Hope this helps! New K-5 is awesome and only a couple hundred more than the cheapest listing i could find for a K-7! Win!
