Originally posted by GregK8 Dude, just send it in to get fixed. I did exactly what you did except on purpose. I assumed the Warehouse Deals K-5 had stains and bought it knowing that Pentax is replacing them no questions asked. So I saved about $250 by simply waiting for CRIS to send the camera back.
that's pretty much exactly what I did, there were no questions asked by Pentax/CRIS. In fact, i'm almost certain I even included a copy of the Amazon Warehouse Deals receipt in the box with the camera when it was shipped back to CRIS...still no questions asked. The only thing I did differently, was asked Warehouse Deals for an additional discount (because they advertised it as Used-Like New) and they threw me an extra 20% refund on top of an already pretty decent deal.
The Square Trade Warranty I bought additionally was through Amazon and it was $44.99 (a little pricey, i know) and was for open box items valued up to $2000. Now that I have a brand new replacement camera, i'm not sure how that would affect the warranty if i ever needed it. i'm thinking that it should be fine, being as how i never provided square trade with a serial number? i'll cross that bridge if and when.
