well, obviously the 5D offer more detaille, thank to the FF i guess ... However the K5 is doing very very well. Kind of good to know

So what we're saying is that, based on real-world examples, the DXO ratings actually do have some legitimacy, and an APS-C DSLR actually can be ranked ahead of many top FF bodies! Interesting on the underexposure - I'd never seen an example like this before.

The 5D Mk II is certainly a good camera - I was impressed the day I got to shoot one (with L-series zooms) on the Universal Studios back-lot alongside my K200D with its Ltd & * lenses. Neither was a clear winner, but I wouldn't mind using a 5D Mk II again. Of course, I hardly felt like trading in my K200D or lenses either. A few days later my K-5 finally arrived (slow shipping).

These deliberate underexposure / shadow push shots are woefully tiresome. Yes the sensor's DR is great, but it's getting silly now.

Does anyone know what lenses they used for this comparison?
Because in earlier observations, I've found the resolution differences to be minimal between both systems. However, here... it seems rather significant?

Speak for yourself.

I used to think that it only appealed to landscape shooting, and that this was it came down too. However... I've recently learned that shadow recovery can be just as powerful an asset in portrait shooting also.

If you mouse over the top right of the photo on Flickr it states the lense

Pentax
Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f/2.4

Canon
24-105mm f/4

So the zoom spanks the prime handily in this case, or it's a matter of the larger sensor offering larger pixels.

I'm still left wanting full frame.

All of a sudden DR range is less important....to Canon and Nikon shooters....isn't that amazing?

Does it really make any difference? Damn right it does, when I process my K5 shots I have more latitude to get the best out of every shot, and it is very obvious that the K5 will allow easier and better processing. It was one of the first things I noticed.

I just find it hilarious that when Pentax excels, things that were once very important and desired, are now just "silly".......they are not silly to me.
