K-5 with FA* 85

I cheap out on the K-5, only can afford a black one. A little regret, but told myself next camera upgrade will get the sliver one...

New King in the house, all hail to the new king:

well, I now realize it is not easy to take product photo, especially setting up the background.
I just use some colorful magazine covers to set up the background....

Taken with K200 w/ DA35 macro ltd.

Thanks guys.

Two things I don't like about the K-5 design:
1. No SR switch on the body !? My K200d has and I found it useful; no idea why it is not in K-5;
2. The 'ring' type camera strap attachment. It has two metals contacting each other (ring and hook) and I think will generate sound when recording video.

Another two pics w/ grip attach.... the combo is huge!

Probably only another switch you dont need anyway. You can ascess the SR from settings from the info button anyway.

You should attach the bow tie shaped leather pads that come with the camera to prevent the strap eyelets to come in contact with the camera strap attachment.
It will prevent rub marks to the exterior magnesium finish. You should have got the silver version while it is still available as it is a limited edition and thus has a limited production run.

while i also didn't like losing the SR switch at first, typically you just turn on the 2 s timer which automatically disables that SR anyway.

Where can we get those cute and colourful K-r toys?

Like the look of the FA* on the K-5.

thats what those little vinyl pads are for, to go over the strap rings, and prevent rubbing or anything else. its amazing most people don't know what those are for, as they used to be common place and pentax used them for a long time before they made the switch to solid lug type strap attachments.

Ash, you can get them on e-bay, search "pentax key chain" will show. Abt $50 shipped. I thought they were cute and colorful. But honestly, the built quality is not very good (I mean the paint spray on the plastic is not well done). For your reference:

Thanks Campdog & WerTicus about the SR. I didn't know 2 sec timer disabled the SR. Is this something we need to set in the menu?

I wonder, K-7 added so many direct access buttons compare to lower end model, but remove the SR switch that is available in low end model (k200, not sure about K-r), what is the reason behind this decision?

Thanks séamuis & creampuff. I do have the little pad attached with my strap. Just take it off for the photo. I am probably still used to K200 strap attachment design, guess I will get used to it.

Here's the link to the thread mentioned above.

It appears this is the latest version as it has the newer hood style.
