Can I use nikon lenses on my K-5

I was wanting to use some of my wifes Nikon DX lenses on the K-5 or is this not possible with a proper adapter.

If we bought a new Sigma lense would it be better to buy one with a Nikon bayonet or one with a Pentax one to use on either body. Now I know I should have bought a Nikon body but anyone who has a K-5 knows why I didn't.

If the Nikon lens is a G lens (with no aperture ring), even with an adapter or somehow you force it on a Pentax lens, there is no way to control the lens's aperture.

Pre-Ai Nikon lenses, can be attached to a Pentax DSLR body, but can be used only in stop-down mode, inconvenient to say the least.

I think you should buy Nikon lenses for Nikon body and Pentax lenses for Pentax body.

There is an adapter for sale Gadget Infinity :: Digital Camera :: Lens Attachment :: Adapter :: Nikon AI Lens Adapter Ring for Pentax K200D D110D K20D

I have it and use it for an old Nikkor 300mm/f4.5. The adapter works as an TC of something like 1,25x making the lens 375mm/f5.6 so you only should use for a really good lens. Only stopped down and you need an aperture ring.

So nu use for trying some of those new lenses of Nikon, but it looks fun:

So buying a second K-5 for your wife is a good plan.
