Originally posted by G_Money I think you'll find most of the people here replaced the stock shim with the supplied dark coloured shim.
Originally posted by vonBaloney +1 on that. The screens are different thicknesses, so the only case in which you wouldn't have to change it is if your stock shim is already causing your stock screen to be misaligned in the first place...
Originally posted by jan rinze The S-type from focusingscreens.com is really great with my K-5.
The combination with a Samyang 85mm f1.4 is awesome, i can now make tack sharp images and focusing is very easy.
I would recommend it to everyone who does manual focusing with f1.4 lenses!
Well, thanks guys!
So I'll go ahead a see what happens.
I also got me one of those "Rocket Blower" (Giotto's) to clean the focusing screen on my K5, and was sure this would come handy after installing the ee-S screen on the K7 but what happened is: caused MORE little dark specs of "some nature" to appear on the K5 screen on top of those alerady there!
Looks like the inside of the blower had some very small material specs which got blown onto the screeen !
It is not affecting the images though, so I guess I will just leave the dirt spots there.
I did go through the thread(s) on cleaning a focusing screen but there are at least 10 different methods found in there ... very hard to decide what to do.
Here's the thread I finally settled on:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-film-slr-discussion/178636-clean-focusing-screen.html but again, loads of different ways to do the cleaning.
Cheers!
