Hey all, locally there is a used k5 body for sale. About $300 less than retail. Its a private sale.

The PO wants to selll it so he can buy the limited edition version.

What do I look for when buying used from a private seller?

I would check if it has had any of the several issues raced on these forums like 'Stained sensor' and if it has, has been back to Pentax and been fixed. Then the usual questions conditions, no scratches etc.

Check for any physical damage to the camera and lens mount. And it should have a warranty applicable to your region. Stains are not really important - because even if it has stains, it will be replaced for free under warranty.
