3' Concrete Slab Bounce..

Surreal...

My K-5 jumped off the shoulder strap and took a 3 foot swan dive onto a concrete slab. Fractured the glass view finder, broke the O-ME-53 plastic, scratched the body near the SD Card door, but....

It works! Have shot over 500 photos since then (through a shattered viewfinder), (had too on vacation). Yesterday the folks at Strauss Photo in D.C. (what a cool place) pronouced the camera fine and pretty damn rock solid. Once the spare view finder arrives from Japan and a quick repair, its on the road again..

Love those solid Pentax bodies....

This is real nice to hear! Having a K7, I can only guess it can put up with similar "effects"! I am sure your heart dropped as far (or further) when it happened!

Let's see if a plastic Canikon can do that (anyone want to give it a test???)!

Careful with that VF glass, you could get small pieces in your eye, specially if using DA* lenses.

Maybe you need to consider changing that shoulder strap...

Scary! I never use the strap, always just a firm grip on my camera. I tripped once and had to make a split second decision...drop the camera or hit the pavement head first. I recovered just in time, but it would have cracked my head open, I never let go of the camera.

Know the feeling. A good few years ago I was walking along a narrow country path with a plaster cast on a broken arm and an expensive Sony Hi-8 video camera in the other. I tripped and some in-built sense tells me 'not the camera'. So I end up flat on my back in brambles and nettles. Hurt like hell but the equipment was ok and the kids thought it was hilarious

Adds new meaning to the phrase "Takes a Licking and Keeps on Clicking!" Good to hear it works Chuck.

Btw, you'll have to let us know how things go with Strauss. Of course this isn't a warranty repair, but are they an authorized Pentax Repair/Warranty Center now? They weren't last time I checked.
