Using K5 and Yn560 flash off camera

Hi everyone,

I'm just curious if I understand this correctly:

I can fire the YN560 flash with a pc sync cable connected to the port on my K5?

If so, can I also have my AF540 FGZ firing from the hotshoe at the same time?

Thanks

-Nick

I have two YN560 but only use them wireless. The YN560 can also fire in slave mode.

My guess is your setup is possible, but I haven't tried it.

I dont think so.

I didnt try this combo, but I did try doing this with strobes. I was trying to fire several brand of strobes and flashes at the same time. It was a massive failure.

In your case though, since these are not strobes, I think you can just use the 540 to fire the YN as slave, as already stated.

I'm pretty sure this will work.

My K-5 has been returned, but I did test a Sigma EF-530 in the hotshoe with P-TTL and a wireless trigger on the PC Sync port, and they both fired (except the trigger above 1/180 even with HSS, which was what the test was for).

If i understand you right, you had a radio(wireless) trigger on the sync port and PTTL in the hot shoe. Since the only Pentax radio triggers out there do not have PTTL, one would be firing one flash in manual and one in PTTL off the same signal. I just wonder if the main flash would be simultaneous. Apparently yours was which is great.

The YN560 has those 2 optical trigger modes, S1 and S2, so thats an alternate way to have both TTL and manual at the same time as well. only con is where the PTTL flash can't reach the optical trigger

I think i'm going to have to get a PC cable - any sources - fleabay i suppose.
