While I've never used the FA 50/1.4 per say, I have however used other FA lenses(primes) and they worked without a hitch. Focus was a little on the slow side in my case, but that didn't really pose any problems.

Yes, it's a modern lens designed to be fully compatible with the pentax AF and auto-exposure systems.

It's one of the most popular lenses out there right now; 88 users have posted their reviews here: SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 Reviews - Pentax Lens Reviews & Pentax Lens Database

I bought an FA 50mm f1.4 when I got my K5, and they go together wonderfully.

I have them both and they play together quite nicely. While this is no masterpiece, but it was shot with the K-5 and the FA50 1:1.4 @ f/1.4.

The lens sharpens up quite a bit as the aperture is stopped down.

I just got my K5 this week and haven't used my FA50 1.4 on it yet, but I've had the 50mm for a long time and have used it on K-7s, K20s, K10s an *istD and an MZ-S. Yes, it works perfectly.

I have both and it works great! The FA50 is one of my favorite lenses for detail shots at weddings. It is also a great combo for receptions because of the 1.4 and the low light capabilities of the K5.
