k100d to K5 manual lens shooting

Hi Folks,

I upgraded from k100d to k5 today.
I am intimidated to say the least .. but have been having a lot of fun going through the operating manual and trying out the different features.

One of the things that I mastered with the k100d was shooting with my manual 50mm 1.4

1. half press shutter till hexagon appears.
2. press ae-l to stop down and take a light reading then fire away.

Will this process be the same with the K5.
when I hit ae-l i do not hear the camera stop down.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Yes it will work!

And... as a MF enthusiast myself, all I can say is give the live view a try!
I've used many aids over the years(VF magnifiers, eyecup, split screens etc). but nothing has ever worked as amazingly with a Pentax body as with the K-5 liveview. You can even get a histogram up up(RBG even) and see all of you're scene data in real time. And most of all... you can zoom in to the finest detail and nail that focus like a champ in a ring!

Try it out, let me know what you think.
Oh and congratulations on your new K-5 btw.
I'm sure you're going to love it.

You want to press the "green button" for stop down metering.
